THE ROLE OF HUMAN FACTOR IN CYBER-DEFENSE AND HOW TO HANDLE IT?

May 24, 2016, CyberSecurity Forum - THE ROLE OF HUMAN FACTOR IN CYBER-DEFENSE AND HOW TO HANDLE IT? Security technologies form the basic pillar of cyber-defense in organizations. The quality, complexity and proper configuration thereof, including the related processes, define the level of security maturity achieved at any organization. Unfortunately, experience from successful attacks targeted on large high-maturity organizations shows that their real ability to detect, mitigate and contain a cyber-attack in a crisis management mode is very low. This is mostly due to the fast growing professionality of attackers and the missing knowledge of attack strategies and tactics on the defender’s side. There is also a lack of real practical experiences of how to manage cyber-attacks at all their stages. The main goal of the presentation is to explain the main principles of handling the human factor – the role of teams and individuals in cyber-defense, permanent increase of the defender's ability to detect the attacker's behavior at any stage of the attack’s lifecycle and, finally, the practical verification of existing incident response scenarios under the pressure of a real cyber-attack.
